Ancient Civilization Project Rubric for Individual and Group Projects
	Below Expectations Fails to meet basic requirements 0.5 pts	Meets Expectations Meets requirements for the project 1 pts	Exceeds Expectations Exceeds requirements for the project. 1.25 pts
Descriptive Assignment 50 pts Write descriptions of an individual from an ancient civilization as well as an important location from that civilization.	Below Expectations Fails to meet standards for length, grammar, growth or achievement.	Meets Expectations Write descriptions about a character and a place from an ancient civilization. Descriptions include a complete TAPP as well as meeting the length requirements of your group. Descriptions are largely free from grammatical and mechanical errors.	Exceeds Expectations Includes all the requirements from Meets Expectations and demonstrates exceptional work. The writing demonstrates growth, insight, and hard work as well as being error free.
Imaginative Story 50 pts Write an imaginative story based on the individual and place that you have chosen.	Below Expectations Story fails to meet any of the basic requirements.	Meets Expectations Story is interesting and includes essential components. Storyboard is complete. Story includes facts about character and place chosen in ancient civilization.	Exceeds Expectations Story is exceptional in every way. It is creative, fun, includes ll the required components and demonstrates superb control over the mechanics of the language. Characters are vibrant and the story line is compelling
Group Project 50 pts Create a presentation about your civilization which answers the question "How does the culture help to determine the perspective of the people?"	Below Expectations The group fails to answer the question "how does culture determine perspective?" Not all group members have taken part in the project.	Meets Expectations The group project successfully answers the question - "How does culture determine perspective?" Projects can be completed with any medium but must include all team members.	Exceeds Expectations The group successfully answers the question "How does culture determine perspective?" And does so in a way that includes the entire group and is interesting, engaging, and goes above and beyond the requirements.
