You are to choose between one of the 3 options for your final project. This is an individual assignment. Your attendance is required for class. Make sure that you plan accordingly if are going to be absent for a school activity.

Project Appearance and Presentation

Excellent

Project is clear, well-organized, and follows the suggested formatted cleanly. Layout and appearance are clear and helpful. Fonts and formatting (italics, bold) are clean and guide the reader. Maps are detailed, attractive, and printed in color. It looks professional .
Good

Project gets the author's points across but has some organizational issues and presentation issues. Citations may be incorrectly formatted. Print quality may be poor. Layout may be cluttered with photos and images not requested in the assignment.
Fair

Quality of project seriously interferes with the information being presented. Print quality, formatting, and fonts hinder rather than help the presentation. Citations are missing essential information or are formatted inconsistently.
Poor

Project is poor. Fonts do not match. Format does not match the assignment. Labels are not present. Units are unclear. Maps are of poor quality or missing. Print quality is poor. Loose papers are not stapled.
Missing

Project is so badly printed that it is illegible or pages are missing.
Overall Project

Excellent

The overall project is a thoughtful, well-written, insightful essay that highlights the four or five most important elements of the human geography. It reflects knowledge and judgment about the strengths, challenges, and uniqueness of your project.
Good

The overall project is accurate, but it shows only a limited ability to make judgments about what really matters. It may contain grammar or organization errors. It misses some of the most obvious unique challenges or strengths of the project. It may be too brief.
Fair

The overall project is mostly a re-listing of data already presented in the data sections or is poorly-written. It does not show the ability to make solid judgments about what matters most in your project. It may include statistics without analysis or context.
Poor

The overall project is incomprehensible or is so grammatically-incorrect that it convey little useful information.
Missing

The overall project is missing or is partly or completely plagiarized. Direct quotations appear without quotation marks or citations and paraphrases are used without citation.
Data and Content

Excellent

Virtually all of the required data are present, selected from valid resources, accurate, and the source and labels (units) are clear. The text is not cut-and-paste, but is instead written by the student. At least two print books are referenced.
Good

Some gaps in the data and/or some errors, but the overall trend is towards quality information and most of the data are presented. Sources are at times unclear. There is only one book referenced.
Fair

Substantial gaps in the data and/or significant errors; the overall trend is towards rushed work and incomplete information. Much of the text is cut-and-paste. Sources are often times unclear. There may not be references to print books.
Poor

Much of the data is missing, including whole sections. Errors are common. Sources are missing.
Missing

The majority of the data is missing.
Summary & Presentation

Excellent

Summary successfully address the most important information of the project. It shows insight and knowledge of the project and requirements. It is grammatically-correct, well-organized and include clear topic sentences.
Good

The summary is basically sound, but demonstrate limited problems with grammar, missed essential information, or are too brief.
Fair

The summary is obviously too brief, contain incorrect information, are grammatically-flawed, or miss vital information about the subject.
Poor

The summary is very brief or nonexistent, contain much incorrect information, are grammatically-flawed, and miss the most vital information about the subject. Some may be missing, while others are present.
Missing

The summary is missing or are plagiarized.
Attendance

Excellent

Present every day of class while working diligently on the project.

Missed two days of class or asked to get back on task on several occasions.

Poor

Missed 3 days of class or off task on several occasions and did not respond well to requests.
