Ideas & Content	Excellent Stays focused on the topic. Includes original ideas and sensory details that relate to the topic.	Good Stays mostly focused on the topic. May include minor tangents and some rambling and/or repetition. Includes ideas and/or sensory details that relate to the topic.	Average Stays minimally on topic. Includes some ideas and/or sensory details that relate to the topic. May include some sensory detail.	Poor Has little or no focus on topic. Includes few ideas and sensory details.	Weak Lacks topic. Includes no ideas and/or sensory details that relate to the topic.
Organization	Excellent Attempts paragraph form. May include indenting, topic sentence, and/or details. Includes a beginning, middle, and end. May attempt transitions.	Good Attempts a beginning, middle, and end. Has a logical sequence of events and topic sentence has supporting details and concluding sentence.	Average Attempts a beginning and middle but does not include an ending.	Poor Attempts beginning but does not include middle or end.	Weak Shows no sense of beginning, middle, or end.
Style (Voice, Word Choice, Fluency)	Excellent Use complete phrasing. Uses varied descriptive words. Attempts to use varied literary devices. Demonstrates an awareness of audience.
