Knowledge of choreography	Poor Remembers a few of the steps/ movements and tries, but looks lost and out of sync with others.	Fair Demonstrates some knowledge of choreography, but unsure of some movements. Sometimes hesitates/ watches others and makes some errors	Good Demonstrates good knowledge of choreography. Keeps up with group. Few errors.	Excellent Demonstrates excellent knowledge of the choreography. and does it well.
Technical skills	Poor Although remembers some of dance, little attention paid to how movements are done or other details of dance.	Fair Only some understanding of technical elements (ie. footwork, quality of movements, body positions) demonstrated in performance.	Good Dance performed with attention to most details of technique, but hasn't attained proficiency in dance style yet.	Excellent Dance performed with great attention to quality of movement, body position, placement on stage and other details of dance. Also demonstrates an excellent understanding of dance style.
Performance Skills	Poor The dancer is not very focused, concentrated or committed to performance.	Fair The dancer is generally focused, but only some attempt made to engage the audience.	Good The dancer communicates with the audience through eye contact and facial and body expression.	Excellent The dancer shows confidence on stage and is able to engage the audience completely through their performance. The dancer shows personal style and a fun attitude throughout the performance.
Personal Choreography	Poor The dancer was unable to demonstrate 6 tap skills learned during tap dance unit.	Fair The dancer was able to deomonstrate some of the tap skills in a combination that he or she created.	Good The dancer worked with alone or with his or her partner(s) to create a tap combination using 6 skills learned during the tap unit. The combination was not original and only reworked basic steps of previously taught combinations.	Excellent The dancer demonstrated an original and creative combination of 6 tap dance skills. The combination was original and creative. The dancer's sounds were clear sharp.
