Includes an introduction and conclusion paragraph.	Making Progress - C Organized into 1 paragraph with at least an introduction or conclusion sentence.	Not Yet - D No paragraphs written. Just list of sentences.
Introduction	Exemplary - A Grabs the readers interest right away in the first sentence with creative word choice and in the introduction paragraph identifies who person is.	Proficient - B Grabs the readers interest somewhere within the first paragraph and identifies who person is.	Making Progress - C Attempts to grab the readers interest in the first paragraph, but is not quite able, and person is somewhat identified.	Not Yet - D The introduction does not grab the readers interest and doesn't identify the person.
Topic Sentences	Exemplary - A Each paragraph begins with a well written topic sentence that lets the reader know exactly what that paragraph will be about.	Proficient - B 3-4 paragraphs begin with a topic sentence that tries to let the reader know what the paragraph will be about.
