Fluency Rubric
	Right on Track! 3 pts	Almost There! 2 pts	Let's Work on It! 1 pts
Accuracy	Right on Track! Reads with accuracy but word and structure difficulties are resolved quickly, usually through self-correction.	Almost There! Moderate accuracy with some self-correction.	Let's Work on It! Difficulty decoding text with minimal self-correction.
Expression & Volume	Right on Track! Reads with good expression & enthusiasm throughout the text. Varies expression & volume to match his/her interpretation of the passage.	Almost There! Begins to use voice to make text sound like natural language. Slips into expression-less reading. Moderate focus on pronouncing the words.	Let's Work on It! Reads words as if simply to get them out. Little sense of trying to make text sound like natural language. Tends to read in a quiet voice.
Pace	Right on Track! Reads with the appropriate rate for the assigned script.	Almost There! Moderately slow with uneven mixture of fast and slow reading.	Let's Work on It! Slow and laborious.
Phrasing	Right on Track! Generally well phrased, mostly in clause and sentence units.	Almost There! Mixture of run-ons, midsentence pause for breath, choppiness; fails to mark ends of sentences and clauses.	Let's Work on It! Monotonic with little sense of phrase boundaries; frequent word-by-word reading.
Smoothness	Right on Track! Generally smooth reading with some breaks.	Almost There! Moderate breaks in smoothness caused by difficulties with words and/or structures. Rough spots in text are more frequent and disruptive.	Let's Work on It! Frequent extended pauses, hesitations, false starts, sound-outs, repetitions, and/or multiple attempts.
