Creative Writing Project Creative Writing Project (CWP) Students will use 5 literary devices to write. Students were given 100 writing prompts and allowed to choose any one as inspiration to write a creative piece. Literary devices	Excellent Written piece includes 5 or more literary devices. Literary Devices are very well defined through students writing. .	Good Written piece includes 4-3 literary devices. Literary Devices are apparent and clear.	Fair Written piece includes 2 literary devices. Literary devices are somewhat clear, but may be hard to find.	Needs Improvement Only 1 or no literary devices apparent in the written piece .	Poor Little or no attempt at the use of Literary devices.
Plot/structure/form	Excellent Written piece follows correct form and uses one of the prompt suggestions wisely for inspiration.	Good Written piece follows correct form and uses one of the prompt for inspiration.	Fair Written piece shows some awareness of literary elements, but it is not fully developed and does not fully use prompt.	Needs Improvement There is little development and is hard to follow.	Poor No apparent form or structure was followed.
Creativity	Excellent Written product is interesting and engaging to read. It includes s (literary devices) that give the reader images in their mind while reading.	Good Written product includes some details (literary devices) that give the reader images in their mind while reading.	Fair Story include very little details (literary devices) that give the reader images in their mind while reading.	Needs Improvement Story is told with very little or no details (literary devices) that give the reader images in the mind while reading.	Poor Written product has no details and lacks effort and creativity.
Grammar/Mechanics	Excellent There are few or no punctuation,spelling and/or grammar errors. Excellent effort and exemplary amount of work.	Good There are some punctuation, spelling and/or grammar errors. Significant evidence of effort and acceptable length of work.	Fair There are many punctuation, spelling, and/or grammar errors. Little evidence of effort to create an engaging piece and/or not long enough.	Needs Improvement The story is filled with punctuation, spelling, and/or grammar errors. The piece is too short and/or less than a page.	Poor Serious grammar and spelling issues. Written piece was not revised.
