Beginning There is no understanding of the direction of the action and motives of the characters. The play is extremely undeveloped.
Characters	Excelling Characters are interesting. Characters are clearly differentiated. Each character has a reason to be in the scene.	Achieving Characters are interesting. Characters might be similar to one another. Each character has a reason to be in the scene.	Developing Characters are hardly interesting.
