Badminton Skills Test
	Approaching 3 pts	Proficient 5 pts	Exemplary 6 pts
Serve	Approaching non-dominant shoulder is not pointed towards target, contact made above the waist, birdie tossed or swong is too fast at contact, contact is made in front of body, birdie lands in front of the short service line	Proficient point non-dominant shoulder towards target, contact is made below the waist with a low-to-high motion, birdie is possibly tossed or swing is too fast at contact, but contact is made in front of body, birdie lands high, but behind the short service line	Exemplary point non-dominant shoulder towards target, contact is made below the waist with a low-to-high motion, birdie is dropped and contact is made in front of body, weight is transferred from back foot to front foot as contact is made, birdie lands close to the net and behind th short service line
Clear	Approaching contact is made near head level and behind the body, racket face is open, follow through stops at contact, birdie lands high, but not necessarily deep	Proficient contact is made close to head level, in front of body, racket face is slightly open, follow through is across the body, birdie lands high and deep	Exemplary contact made with a straight elbow, in front of body, weight is shifted to front foot as contact is made, racket is slightly open, follow through across the body, birdie lands high and deep in bounds
Drop	Approaching mechanics not similar to the clear, contact is made at head level, hard push of the birdie over the net and well behind the short service line, follow through stops at contact	Proficient mechanics look clear, contact is made close to the head or above it, hard push of the birdie over the net and in front of the short service line, a gentle follow through	Exemplary mechanics look clear, contcat is made above the head or close to it, gentle push of the birdie close to the net and in front of the short service line, gentle follow through
Smash	Approaching smash is taken from every area of the court, mechanics are not like the clear, contact is made near the head, racket is pointed downward, follow through stops at contact, birdie may not land in bounds	Proficient Smash is taken from every area of the court, mechanics look like the clear, contact is made without a straight elbow, racket is pointed downward, follow through is downward across the body, birdie land in bounds, but may be returnable	Exemplary Smash is taken , mechanics look like the clear, contact is made above the head, racket is pointed downward, follow through is downward across the body, birdie lands in bounds and is unreturnable
