When writing your one paragraph short answer for the exam, this is what your answer will be graded on. Short answer paragraphs are worth ten points each for a total of 50 points.

Question was addressed but in general terms only. No details or elaboration supporting answer.
Above Average (B)

Question was addressed and answered sufficiently with supporting details.
Excellent (A)

Question was answered correctly with supporting details. Elaboration of position or addition of a new idea or comparison was included.
Completeness
12 pts

Student needs to address the entire question adequately in their answer with details from the information given AND extend their thoughts beyond the details provided.

No answer.
Fair (C)

Response did not address all parts of questions or posed an opinion that was not supported
Above Average (B)

Response was complete, posed an opinion and supported it with evidence from story.
Excellent (A)

Response was complete and provided additional relevant facts or analysis that compared elements from the story to concepts from learners own experience.
