Short Story Christmas short story Students are to create a short story using the plot line elements as discussed in class and in previous activities. Story can be any length as long as there are details that support all parts of a plot line as well as develop strong characters. Plot line	Poor Under 4 essential plot line stages are met with limited detail. Not clear on setting, rising action, falling action, and conclusion.	Fair All plot line stages are met with some detail. Has setting, rising action, climax, falling action, and conclusion.	Good All plot line stages are met with great detail to enhance the story. Has setting, rising action, climax, falling action, and conclusion.
Character development	Poor Characters are introduced but not built on. Characters have limited creative interactions with other people, places or things.	Fair Characters are developed with a fair amount of details. Characters have some detailed/ creative interactions with other people, places or things.	Good Characters are developed with a strong details to enhance their importance in the story. Characters have good detailed/ creative interactions with other people, places or things.
Mechanics	Poor poor grammar and spelling that distracts from the creativity of the story.	Fair A moderate amount of grammar and spelling errors that are not too distracting from the importance of the Story. I.e., quotation marks	Good Very few/ no grammar mistakes. Quotation marks used properly.
