A Model of Our Solar System
A Model of Our Solar System
Students will take their knowledge of our solar system and create a 3-D model. The sun should be included as part of the solar system. All planets should be clearly labeled (include Pluto). Students are encouraged to use color and to get creative. Each student will be displaying their project for other classmates to see and comment on. Each model should come with a description of how their 3-D solar system model was created and a blurb about the solar system and each of the 8 planets.

The project's appearance and creativity is quite poor. Many distracting elements. Little attempt to add color or originality. Project has sloppy appearance.
Good
The projects' appearance is somewhat poor. Some distracting elements. ie.. handwriting could have been improved. The proportions are close but there are a couple mistakes.
Excellent
Project's appearance is clean and polished with no distracting elements. All planets are correctly proportioned to each other.
High level of creativity was on display.
Images & Models
Poor
Color and sizes were not accurate according to research. Minimal detail is displayed. Materials are incomplete and not organized. A lack of effort is apparent.
Good
Some thought has been put into the planets image, color on most planets were accurate. The planets are close to their correct size in proportion to the others.
Excellent
There is large amounts of creativity being shown. All planets have their correct colors and imagination has been used when designing the solar system model.
Content of Facts
Poor
The project content is poor and suggests the student has not done sufficient research. Zero facts presented and nothing is displayed.
Good
The project content is good and suggest the student has discovered some of the important facts of the solar system, but need more.
One fact presented and is displayed in a neat fashion.
Excellent
The project content is exemplary and suggests the student has discovered the important ideas of the solar system. 2 or more in depth facts were presented and was displayed in a neat creative fashion.
Essay- "Blurb"
Poor
Student was not able to discuss any details about his/her project. Student was unable to recall any facts about any planets or the solar system.
Good
Student was able to discuss details about his/her project. Student was only able to recall a few facts about a few planets and the solar system.
Excellent
Student was able to discuss details about his/her project. Student was able to recall a significant amount of facts about all the planets and the solar system.
