Life Sytems Needs and Characteristics of living things.

Living/Nonliving Things Student can accurately describe living and nonliving hings.	Does Not Understand Student cannot tell differences	Needs work Student can tell 2-3 differences.	Good Student can choose and illustrate living things.	Excellent Student can tell whether an item is living or nonliving 100% of the time.
Living Things (Plants) Student can identify the main things that living things (plants) need to survive (water, food, sun, space).	Does Not Understand Student cannot name any items needed.	Needs work Student can name 1 of the items needed.	Good Student can name all of the items needed.	Excellent Students can explain the consequences associated when living things do no get water, food, space, and sun.
Plant Parts Student can identify the basic parts of plants, roots, stem, flower, leaves.	Does Not Understand Student cannot identify any parts of the plant.	Needs work Student can identify two parts of a plant.	Good Student can identify all parts of the plants.	Excellent Student can illustrate and explain the parts of a plant and their uses.
Plant Life Cycle Student can clearly explain the life cycle of plants.	Does Not Understand Student cannot explain the life cycle of a plant.	Needs work Student can tell 1-2 stages of the life cycle.	Good Student can tell all stages of the life cycle.	Excellent Student can illustrate independently the life cycle of a plant.
Butterfly Life Cycle Student can clearly explain the stages of a Butterfly's Life Cycle and successfully Label it	Does Not Understand Students cannot explain the life cycle of a butterfly	Needs work Student can tell 1-2 of the 4 stages of the the life cycle	Good Student demonstrates a knowledge of the Butterfly Life Cycle	Excellent Student can independently illustrate and label the Butterfly Life Cycle
Animal Classification Student can clearly identify and organize Animals into the 6 classifications	Does Not Understand Student cannot identify or organize animals into the groups indecently	Needs work Student sometimes demonstrates the ability to classify and identify characteristics of animals place in some groups correctly	Good Demonstrates knowledge of the 6 classifications	Excellent Easily explains animal characteristics and place them in the group based on this criterion
Neatness Writing and labeling neat and readable	Does Not Understand Writing is large and unreadable and cannot soundout words	Needs work Student can soundout words and demonstrates basic penmanship	Good Readable and uses the resources such as wow board to spell words	Excellent Student can spell most words indepentantly, writing is neat a readable within space provided
Effort Student demonstrates effort and desire to finish work within allotted time	Does Not Understand Student rarely completes work even with one to one assistance and often disrupts class routine	Needs work Student talks to peers often and runs out of time to finish work in allotted time asks for assisstance	Good Student can finish work and follow instruction with minimal assisstance	Excellent Student works indepentantly, usually finishes work in allotted with great accuracy
