	Excellent 5 pts	Satisfactory 4 pts	Fair 3 pts	Poor 1 pts
Preparedness	Excellent Is completely prepared and has obviously rehearsed.	Satisfactory Seems prepared but might benefit from more rehearsal.	Fair Is prepared, but it is evident that rehearsal is lacking.	Poor Not prepared to present.
Voice	Excellent Speaks clearly and distinctly all the time. Can be heard easily by all in audience.	Satisfactory Speaks clearly and distinctly most of the time. Can be heard easily at least 90%of the time.	Fair Speaks clearly some of the time. Can be heard at least 80% of the time.	Poor Mumbles often or cannot be understood. Voice is too soft to be heard by all.
Inflection and Pacing	Excellent Uses inflection and pacing effectively to enhance meaning and/or for dramatic impact.	Satisfactory Uses inflection and pacing satisfactorily to enhance meaning and/or for dramatic impact.	Fair Uses inflection and pacing sporadically (some of the time).	Poor Does not use inflection and pacing.
Posture and Eye Contact	Excellent Posture straight, relaxed and confident. Establishes excellent eye contact with audience.	Satisfactory Posture straight. Establishes satisfactory eye contact with audience.	Fair Posture straight sometimes. Establishes some eye contact with audience.	Poor Slouches and/or does not look at audience during recitation.
Memorization	Excellent The student has memorized the entire poem and is able to present it without error.	Satisfactory The student has memorized entire poem and is able to present with just one error from which he/she recovers.	Fair The student has memorized entire poem and is able to present, however makes three+ errors and doesn't recover.	Poor The student has not memorized the poem.
