Initiating conflict Begins the cartoon with the initiating conflict.	Weak Conflict not included in cartoon panels	Fair Conflict is suggested in cartoon, but is unclear; may just be implied.	Good Conflict is easily identified in cartoon.
Rising actions. Identifies the most important rising actions from the story. (2)	Weak Cartoon has no rising action; storyline remains flat	Fair Has rising action, but the most important event(s) is left out or is not clearly identified	Good Most important rising actions are included in the cartoon.
Climax of the story. Identifies the most important event of the story.	Weak Does not include the climax in the cartoon or the event depicted cannot be the actual climax to the story.	Fair Has suggested the climax, but is not clearly identified in the cartoon.	Good Has clearly identified and shown the climax in the cartoon.
