Accuracy	Unsatisfactory No recognizable scale is present.	Needs Improvement Many notes are incorrect - student seems unfamiliar with the scale.	Satisfactory Shows a good feel for the notes, but there are repeated mistakes in pitch. Intonation has not developed appropriately.	Good Mostly correct with a few errors. There may be small intonation problems.	Excellent Pitches are correct and intonation has a characteristic quality sound in all registers.
Tone Quality	Unsatisfactory Sound is totally lacking in quality.	Needs Improvement Limited projection - tone is poor or range is limited.	Satisfactory Fair use of projection and fullness of tone. There may be room for improvement in posture.	Good Considerable use of projection and fullness of tone but still somewhat short of a mature sound.	Excellent Tone is full and well projected. A truly characteristic sound for the instrument.
Tempo Accuracy	Unsatisfactory No evidence of steady pulse.	Needs Improvement Pulse is unstable.	Satisfactory Pulse is fairly steady.	Good Steady pulse.	Excellent Steady pulse at all times.
Overall Preparation	Unsatisfactory Student is not prepared	Needs Improvement Student has prepared less than half of the test.	Satisfactory Student has prepared about half of the test.	Good Student performs most of the material accurately. Preparation is decent.	Excellent Student performs all scales with control and fluidity. Excellent preparation is evident throughout.
Posture	Unsatisfactory Poor Posture. The students did not sit up straight in their chair with their back off of the seat. The student's feet were not on the floor.	Needs Improvement	Satisfactory Good posture is not shown fully. The student is not always sitting up straight, or only has 2 of the three elements. (back off of the seat, feet flat on the floor, sitting up straight)	Good	Excellent Posture is excellent, the student displayed all three elements of good posture. (back off of the seat, feet flat on the floor, sitting up straight)
