IEP GOAL Student will respond to the feelings of others (e.g., anxiety, stress, frustration, anger), and will display appropriate behaviors in response to those feelings (e.g., comforting a friend when sad), which will demonstrate empathy for the feelings of others.

Part 1 Student responded (acknowledged either verbally or non-verbally (eye-contact, body language) to the feelings of others (sad, angry, upset, anxious)	Poor The Student was unable to respond to the feelings of others. OR was able to respond to the feelings of others WITH 4+ adult verbal prompts.	Fair The Student was able to respond to the feelings of others with 1-3 adult verbal prompts.	Good The Student was able to respond to the feelings of others without any prompts.
Part 2 Displayed empathy for the feelings of others by using appropriate behaviors (understanding/ sharing those feelings, comforting, saying nice and/or encouraging words) in response to those feelings.	Poor The Student was unable to display empathy for the feelings of others. OR was able to display empathy for the feelings of others WITH 4+ adult verbal prompts.
