Creativity
Excellent
The student was very creative, thought outside the box, but still incorporated the point of the assignment. Student took time to come up with an engaging background that was very creative and original.
Good
The student started to push outside the box and come up with a creative solution to the assignment. Student took some time to come up with a background, but it was pretty straight forward yet appealing.
Fair
There was some creativity there, but more could have been done. Student has a background, but it’s slightly distracting from the animal.
Poor
The student did not get very creative. Student’s background looks very sloppy and rushed or wasn’t very well thought out.
Craftmanship
Excellent
The student took their time and did excellent work. The student paid good attention to detail. There are no accidental errors and everything was executed with thought and plans. Student take extreme care of their paper and work.
Good
The work was good, but the student could have used their time more wisely and paid more attention to the details. Student has minor errors, but overall took decent care of their paper and work.
Fair
The work was fair. Time may not have been used well. The piece of artwork may have looked unfinished. Student has a number of what looks like accidental mistakes and/or could have taken better care of their art and paper.
Poor
The work was poor, possibly sloppy and time was not used wisely. More attention to detail should have been used. Student did not take care of their paper there are lots of folds and/or tears. Student needed much more time, thought, and consideration for their piece.
Use of Line/Zentangles
Excellent
Excellent use of Zentangles and even created some of their own. Student used a variety of line weights and was able to accurately place values due to creating zentangles that matched.
Good
There was a nice variety of Zentangle patterns, but more were needed. Zentangles were executed pretty well, but some values were a bit confusing. Student has a decent amount of line weights.
Fair
The variety of Zentangle patterns was very limited. Could have benefited from using a straight edge or taking more time to create precise zentangles.
Poor
The student did not use Zentangle patterns created by line. Zentangles looked rushed and not well planned. They did not accurately match values within original photo.
Composition of Animal
Excellent
Overall composition was great! The main part of the animal fell on 1 of 4 points, using the Rule of Thirds. There was not too much negative space that wasn’t used properly in background. The major focus is the animal. The layout of shapes within the animal accurately define the animal’s muscles and body tone.
Good
Overall composition was OK. The main part of the animal may have been close to 1 of 4 points, using the Rule of Thirds. There was too much empty space left. The background took over a little too much. Shapes within the animal were done well but still needed more or maybe less.
Fair
Overall composition needed some work. Rule of Thirds was not used, there was too much blank space left, or animals alignment in the picture plane was not well thought out. Shapes within the animal were lacking.
Poor
Overall composition was very poor. Size of the animal was too small, leaving way too blank space. Rule of Thirds was not even considered. Way too basic of a composition within the animal and using shapes to break it up.
Drawing/Grid of Animal
Excellent
The drawing followed the grid very accurately with the placement of the animal's contour lines. The grid can no longer be seen because it was done lightly and then erased properly.
Good
Following the grid was done pretty well. A very few lines look a little off. The grid was done fairly lightly and can't be seen much.
Fair
Student needed to pay more attention to the grid and the placement of lines. Some lines are not in the correct spot. There is a resemblance, but not an accurate drawing. Grid can be seen.
Poor
The drawing did not follow the grid. Many lines and shapes are off from the original image and the grid is very visible.
