Format	Exemplary The outline employs the correct format, and proper use of symbols, and indentations are evident.	Good The outline shows the correct format, though proper symbols and indentations may be misplaced or inconsistent.	Okay The outline resembles the correct format, but proper symbols and indentations are not used.	In Need of Work The outline has serious errors and does not use the correct format.
Content	Exemplary The outline contains very precise, detailed information that is essential to the topic.	Good The outline contains sufficient information of the topic.	Okay The outline includes information related to the topic, but does not elaborate.	In Need of Work The outline includes insufficient and/or inappropriate information.
Title	Exemplary Title is original, creative, and is pertinent to the material.	Good Title is original and is pertinent to material.	Okay Title shows little originality or creativity; does not pertain to topic.	In Need of Work Title needs serious work as it has no relation to topic.
Thesis	Exemplary Thesis is clear and proposes an arugable point which people could reasonably agree or disagree; it takes a stand.	Good Thesis is clear and proposes an arguable point, but it does not take a clear stand.	Okay Thesis is somewhat clear and does not fully propose an arguable point. The thesis is absent from the outline.	In Need of Work Theis is not clear and lacks organization of an arguable point and a clear stand for or against. The thesis is
Information in Outline	Exemplary Topics are addressed with at least three concrete details about each point. Information clearly relates to the main topic. It includes several supporting details and/or examples.	Good All topics are addressed with at least two concrete details about each, and clearly relates to the main topic. It provieds 1-2 supporting details and/or examples.	Okay All topics are addressed with one concrete details about each; clearly relates to the main topic. No details and/or examples are given.	In Need of Work One or more topics were not addresses. Information has little or nothing to do with the main topic.
