Gram Staining technique for Identification of Bacterial shape and gram status

MAKE A UNIFORM SMEAR; HEAT FIX; STAIN THE SMEAR USING PROPER GRAM STAINING REAGENTS AND TECHNIQUES.

The students will put together an informational piece about Ageism and Anti-Ageism

Create a scale model of some Roman architecture, art, or another piece of material culture. This is a broad group to choose from. It can be: 1) a model of an aqueduct, temple, or other engineering marvel; 2) a statue, vase, mosaic, or other 3-D art of significance; or, 3) clothing, jewelry, coin, military gear, or other object of material culture. A short written component and photo/video log will accompany the product. This must be portable in the classroom (no huge creations).

Students research a wild animal and write an informative narrative text displaying their findings.

This rubric is to grade student's research of a human body system, describing it's function, the main organs or body parts involved and a major diseases or illnesses associated with that system. Students will describe how this body system works with other body systems to keep a person alive and healthy. A written report is to be included with at list of at least 3 resources used, one of which must be non-internet related.

Students will know homework expectations which would include completeness, accuracy, requirements, legibility and time management.

The essay should describe where their animal lives, what their animal eats, what their animal looks like, and other interesting facts about the animal they choose. Students should be prepared to answer questions about their animal from their peers.

Students should demonstrate an understanding of physical and chemical properties of matter and use evidence to distinguish between physical and chemical changes. Students will create a video demonstrating physical versus chemical changes experiments, explain their observations and conclusions in the Powerpoint presentation. The lesson objective of experiment is to analyze and interpret data on the properties of substances to determine if a chemical reaction has occurred.
