The Discussion Forum is to be based on the article read prior to the discussion. It should be student guided and professionally conducted with respectful attitudes, even through addressing differing opinions. This is a professional forum and should be treated as such. Be sure to use proper grammar and punctuation.

The following rubric is so students and parents will know what is expected of students regarding effort in doing class assignments: participation, cooperation, thoroughness in doing assignments, individual/group work, critical/creative thinking, etcetera.

Make a bullet list or table of fractures that have special names such as Clay-Shoveler's fracture. Find as many as you can.

Students will know homework expectations which would include completeness, accuracy, requirements, legibility and time management.

Choose a full-length article in a peer reviewed journal that reviews research on one of the topics presented in class.(within the last 5 years) Write a one paragraph summary of the article followed by a one paragraph personal reflection. The article must be a research article with methods, subjects data, etc. I will not accept a review or professional opinion article. Please submit this electronically by way of "dropbox" on Sakai.

Students in groups of 3, will research and present basic anatomy and physiology of an assigned body system, and relate the system to the body systems already covered in this course as to how they work together to maintain homeostasis of the body. Presentations may be in any format that the group decides. All members of the group will receive the same mark which will be determined by amount of research (bibliography/references to be provided), knowledge, presentation, creativity, and interest, as well as the ability to work as a team. This will include, participation, communication, and cooperation of all team members.

Students will research and present a complete overview of a disease or illness related to a body system covered in this course.

Familiarize yourselves with existing research and theoretical writings pertinent to your topic. Find the best empirical (data-based) article(s) or an assigned article that addresses this topic. Describe the article you reviewed, its methods and findings, strengths and weaknesses. Make recommendations for further refining research in this area, including concrete suggestions (e.g., additional theoretical considerations, highlighting relevance of specific variables or alternative measures for key constructs) for a possible replication and extension of the study you review.

This rubric is for grading student's written assignments.

Choose a Research Article related to patient care/disease/condition, etc that reviews research related to the current unit topic, choose from a scholarly journal of your choice. Article must be a recent issue (last 5 years). Be sure to provide an electronic copy of your article because you'll need to turn it in with your paper.

Objective: The student will integrate 2 perspectives regarding Medical Law and Ethics Description: Based on your clinical experience, you are to write a 5 page paper concerning two ethical issues that you have encountered. The paper MUST be written from a NURSING perspective. Describe the issues including the pros and cons of the issue at hand. Refer to the following rubric for grading guidelines.

Oral communication is a prepared, purposeful presentation designed to increase knowledge, to foster understanding, or to promote change in the listeners' attitudes, values, beliefs, or behaviors. Oral communication takes many forms. This rubric is specifically designed to evaluate oral presentations of a single speaker at a time and is best applied to live or video-recorded presentations. For panel presentations or group presentations, it is recommended that each speaker be evaluated separately. This rubric best applies to presentations of sufficient length such that a central message is conveyed, supported by one or more forms of supporting materials and includes a purposeful organization. An oral answer to a single question not designed to be structured into a presentation does not readily apply to this rubric.

Student will demonstrate knowledge of the assigned body systems by creating a song or rap and presenting it to the class.

Create a board game with visuals to help increase student practice and understanding of tissues and anatomical terminology. This project is due ___________ and will be played by peers.
