A rubric used to assess students knowledge, abilities and skills in Speaking and Writing in Spanish

The student will present to the class the details of a particular Spanish-speaking country. This presentation will contain information about the foods that are eaten, famous people , famous places, the weather, typical music, and important products of the country. This is a three minute Digital Spanish presentation. Hand in a hard copy of the script. Due OCTOBER 12.

The student will present to the class the details of a particular Spanish-speaking Country. The poster will contain information about the foods that are eaten in a particular Spanish speaking country, famous people , famous places, the weather, typical music, and important products of the country. Additionally, students must include two drawings: one of their selected country with all major cities labeled, and another of the country's flag with appropriate coloration.

Create a digital story (a video presentation that combines video footage, photographs, narration, and transitions) in Spanish that is 1:45 to 2 minutes long. English subtitles are not required, but suggested. You will grade each other for the teamwork section, so everyone needs to contribute significantly.

Student is responsible for providing information about Puerto Rico. This is the grading rubric for the written project. The project is due on May 17, 2011.

You and your “Compañero/a” will be taking a trip to an assigned Spanish-speaking country. Like any good tourist, you must prepare yourself before you visit in order to get the most from your trip! Both of you will need to research on your country to learn about their culture, weather & climate, currency of the country, religion, foods, housing, famous landmarks and government. Divide up the work with your partner to complete the following:

Choose a famous author/poet who was born in a Spanish-speaking country. Research the person and write a 1-2 page (double spaced) report on your findings along with a separate page that tells me where you found all information. (at least 3 sources and no more than 2 from the internet) You will present the major information you learned about this person to the class.

Composition rubric

Page 1: Original, one-page typed report about your Spanish-speaking artist, e.g. name, birthdate, country of origin, family life, famous contributions to art, names of painting, etc. Page 2: Either print out two of the artist's work OR draw one yourself.

Page 1: Original, one-page typed summary in English about the story. Page 2: A paragraph about Cervantes.

Spanish script (typed copy) is due Feb. 8. Spanish podcast of script is due the week of March 7. (Recording must be completed by March 4 with Mrs. Soderquist.) Groups of 3 or less. 20 points possible
