Students will create an acrylic abstract or non-objective painting using a variety of techniques and instructional steps.

Student will enlarge a small photo of themselves using the grid method. Portrait will be in pencil

Create a Self Portrait drawing include personal symbols.

Students will compose and paint an acrylic still-life done from observation using color technique, textural rendering and avariety of painting styles

Students will know homework expectations which would include completeness, accuracy, requirements, legibility and time management.

For assessing the planning, creation, and presentation of allegory.

After reading the first five chapters of Mr. Popper's Penguins, work to accurately depict the theme of the book's beginning with a drawing. On the back of the drawing describe the picture with two-three well written sentences. Pick ten vocabulary words from the first 5 chapters from the list I provided. Write out the definitions of those vocabulary words next to your illustration.

You will build a replica of the plaster piece you currently have in the Student show at the Frick Center. You can use the same tools that you used before (such as the power sander) to finish the piece. You can also use some of the dried plaster blocks in the studio to carve from, this should save time for you. This piece must be done in the sculpture studio while I (Dustan Creech) am in the building. You can schedule time with me to meet with you out side of class as well. This piece is due May 19th

The student will create a cityscape or landscape by drawing in layers, while using graduating tones and colors to convey the illusion of depth and distance.

Students will use their notes to create a drawing of the human eye, labeling all 13 structures that was covered in the notes and 6 muscles of the eye. They will also include the function of each of the structures neatly written on a separate sheet

Students looked at the works of the Fauves artists- Matisse, Derain, Van Dongen etc. and were to create a painting of a still life using the color sensibilities of that group of artists.
