Creating Mythical Creatures
Students will create their own mythical creature and build a cohesive "folk tale" using the creature as the central character. Students will also create a short movement phrase interpreting the physicality of the creature.

Dance I Portfolio
The purpose of the Dance Portfolio is to allow each student to express their creativity and ideas through various small projects. Portfolios will be due the last week of every month, and are expected to be submitted on time, complete, and neat. Every month the completed Portfolio will count as 1 test grade and 4 homework assignments.

Dance Assessment Guide
Below is a chart that shows you exactly how your class grade will be determined. All students are expected to participate in class! Remember this is your ELECTIVE. Dance is primarily marked on effort and PERSONAL achievment. It is imperative that you be in class every day and taking part. Smile and have fun!

Dancer/Choreographer Research Presentation
Students will research ANY black dancer/choreographer that has made substantial contributions to dance as an art form. Students will research and develop an understanding of the individual’s historical significance, to create a presentation utilizing one visual aid (PowerPoint, poster, recreate choreography, etc.) to support the research.

Dance Improvisation Assessment
Students will develop improvisational skills and demonstrate their learning by performing individual improvised solos. Students must demonstrate the ability to spontaneously create original movement to develop personal movement vocabulary and innovative movement responses.

Shapes in Space Grading Rubric
