Use this rubric to gauge a student's prosody when reading aloud.

Teachers can use this rubric to assess the reading fluency of sixth-grade students.

Choose a specific, dead or alive, person or animal to write a poem about. Write your poem using English or Spanish language. Translate your poem to either English or Spanish. Go through the writing process . your poem should contain 4 stanzas with 4 lines in each stanza. Have a consistent rhyme scheme throughout the poem. Type your poem and paste it onto a piece of construction paper. On the border around the poem, create symbols that represent your poem.

Students will create a calavera based on traditional Mexican customs.

Pretend you are having a party. Name the different chores and the vocabulary learned in lesson 1. Use the expression "hay que"to say what need to be done in order to have the party. You must write a script and rehearse it before presenting. Make sure your teacher proofread you script. Every member of the team should say at least 4 sentences by memory.

This rubric is meant to help guide in the creation of your PowerPoint presentation project. Each category in the far left column represents a component of the project that will be taken into consideration when calculating the final grade for this assignment. Review the rubric carefully before, during and after the creation of the PowerPoint presentation, to ensure that all intended elements of your powerpoint have been represented and all other criteria have been met.

In this project students will select a country to report on. Students will report on their countries culture, origins and everyday life. Students will list different cultural groups, foods, items and locations that are associated with their country.

Research and prepare a dish or dessert to be shared. Provide a list of ingredients and quantities in Spanish, provide the complete recipe and directions step by step in Spanish. Identify an aspect of the Culture of the selected Spanish Speaking country and make it a part of your recipe presentation.

Write a description of the members of your family in a short paragraph using comparisons.

This rubric can be used with upper-intermediate or advanced classes of any foreign language. Note: No credit will be given if the presentation is read from a script.

Pronunciation Rubric

In small groups, students will create a short dialogue using vocabulary and grammar used in the chapter

The team will crate a poster describing with pictures the members of the team. The student will write a short paragraph with at least 4 or 5 sentences describing with adjectives the members of the team.

Students are to participate in class effectively and follow directions while engaging in classroom activities.

Students are required to engage in a conversation by performing a Spanish skit and put into practice the vocabulary learned in class.

Students will answer conversational questions tied to the objectives of unit 1. Use gustar to talk about likes and dislikes and use ser to identify and describe people.

Students will learn definite and indefinite articles; el & la, and un & una. Students will then demonstrate their comprehension through oral and written work
