For this assignment, you need to present your book talk on your independent reading selection. You are to persuade the audience that your book is a good read for someone specific.

Students will give a persuasive speech exploring ideas presented in any of the texts we have looked at. They will be assessed on use of persuasive language, content and style of delivery. Speeches need to be a minimum of 3 minutes long and no longer than 6 minutes.

Book report using PowerPoint or creating a website or making a display board.

Book Talk Rubric -Independent Reading Favorite Book Students will write and orally present a book talk on one of their favorite independent reading books. Colorful language and confident speaking will enhance your presentation.

Students will work individually to design a museum exhibit from their specific China Dynasty. The student will select an artifact (or artifacts) from their time period to recreate. Additionally, they will research the historical significance of this artifact, and present this information in a well written paragraph to accompany the item. All of this will be presented in class, and then put on display in a "China Dynasty Museum."

This activity allows students to research and identify various aspects of some of the major world religions including Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, and Judaism. Students will use the World Wide Web to conduct research, recording their findings in Microsoft Word or Power Point and complete a visual display of the information they find.

Students create their own mystery for other students to try to solve.

Students will persuade other students, by clearly and concisely piquing the interest of peers in a solid hook and focused and interesting summary that closes with a definite opinion with support for reading and enjoying the book. Colorful language and confident speaking will enhance your persuasion.
