Reading LTLT: I can summarize fictional texts that represent cultures in different regions. STLT: I can summarize central ideas and important details from fables or myths.

Summer Reading Assignment: Students had to keep a literary response journal of 2 journal entries per chapter. Students had a choice of 20 response questions/scenarios.

The purpose of this rubric is to allow the student to know what the expectations are for writing a comparing/contrasting essay. The student will compare and contrast the book A Wrinkle in Time to the movie of the same name. In preparation for this assignment, the student will have had instruction in the writing process, sentence structure, capitalization, end marks, specific vocabulary words, read the book and viewed the movie.

By the end of this lesson students will be able to identify their background knowledge and specific text clues that lead them to make inferences. This will be assessed through the students ability to use the strategy It Says+I Say=And So.
