Descriptive Essay first draft due 9/29; final draft 10/11.
Write a 5 paragraph descriptive essay about a real place that is part of a special memory. Use the writing techniques we have studied in class, including vivid verbs, figurative language, and sensory details. In the first paragraph, start with a descriptive hook, give a focus (setting, protagonist, purpose) and decide how best to organize your description, using transitions to guide your reader through the next 4 paragraphs. Use a first-person point-of-view and add imagination and emotion. Handwrite or type your first draft, and import your final draft into Moodle. Be sure to edit for spelling, grammar, mechanics and usage. Self-grade your writing on this rubric and hand in with your first draft. Hand in rubric and first draft on the day final draft is due.
