Introduction to the Light Microscope

The student will design a brochure to describe the necessary information needed to correctly use a microscope. Assessment using Written Rubric-Brochure

By the end of the semester the student will complete the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report Form using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website and present their findings in a written format. The student will choose an endangered species and make a brochure educating the public about ways to preserve it's natural habitat. Assessment using Written Rubric-Brochure

The student will investigate an ecosystem. The project will include the climate, location, animals and plants (including endangered), and a minimum of one food web in the ecosystem, any human populations, and any environmental concerns and\or efforts towards conservation of species or habitats. The student completing this course will design a brochure to educate the public about one dominant or recessive genetic disorder and present it orally.

Student completing this course will be able to illustrate the important relationship that exist between man and his environment by researching the effects of rainforest deforestation and prepare a powerpoint presentation. Assessment using Technology Rubric-Powerpoint Presentation

Upon completion of the course the student will demonstrate appropriate use of the microscope when looking at sample slides of muscle tissue.
