This rubric is to grade student's research of a human body system, describing it's function, the main organs or body parts involved and a major diseases or illnesses associated with that system. Students will describe the changes of this body system due to a disease. Each student will give an oral presentation using their interactive poster/bulletin board. The board must include all key facts about the system, be creatively displayed, include ways that other students can interact with the board, such as a lift-a-flap game or puzzle. A bibliography must be pasted onto the back of the board with at least one non-internet resouce.

Identify and research a lifestyle practice you want to change. Analyze the impact it has in each of the 7 dimensions of health. Identify strategies, methods, tools, resources, and supports to facilitate your change. Create a plan outlining short and long term goals, steps to reach them, plans to measure progress and overcome obstacles that arise. Min. 3 pages. Due Nov. 2. Implement your plan over 4 weeks. Keep a record of your progress. Note your challenges and success experience, insights gained throughout the process and any revisions required. A short meeting with the instructor will occur week 2-3 of the implementation. Submit a final written evaluation of your healthy lifestyle change using the results recorded and experienced as outlined above. Discuss goals achieved, benefits gained, and negative and positive impacts the change has had on your life physically, emotionally, socially, economically, and spiritually. Min. 3 pages. Due Dec.3.

Each student will work with a partner to research a health promotion and/or prevention topic and create a creative, interactive display illustrating the most current information on the topic and its importance for a healthy lifestyle. The exhibits will be displayed for staff and the general student population. Students will be present to discuss thier exhibits, educate and answer questions about thier topic. Tentative date is November 22 from 0830-1230. Students are expected to work cooperatively and collaborate effectively to create the finished product. Create a work plan together which outlines the work each will be responsible for. The amount and quality of each student's contribution, as well as each individual's knowledge of their topic will be considered in individual grades, however each pair will recieve the same grade for thier abilities to collaborate together and the final product presented.

With a partner, role play an interaction between nurse and client using the therapeutic communication skills that you have learned. Video record a 5-10 minute video of the interaction. The patient scenario can be of your choosing. Provide a brief description of the patient situation at the beginning of the video. Following the completion of your video, watch it back and complete a written analysis of the interaction, noting verbal and non verbal messages (were they congruent?), communication skills used (which were effective and which could be added or improved upon?), and the overall effectiveness of the nurse-client interaction.

You will be working in pairs to conduct an interview with a character from the novel Code Orange by Caroline Cooney. Your interview must include an introduction of the character from the novel. Then create at least ten questions that will give the character the opportunity to discuss his/her thoughts and feelings about his/her role in the story. One student will play the role of the interviewer and the other will play the role of the character from the novel. Video tape the interview The class will screen the interviews and critique each presentation using a rubric.
