Assessing the students knowledge of phonemic awareness by spelling CVC words

Alphabet: Recognize/name all letters. Concepts of Print: Identify the front/back & title page of book. Follow words from left-right/top-bottom on page. Understand printed materials provide information. Recognize that sentences in print are made up of separate words. Distinguish letters from words. Decoding/ word Recognition: Read one-syllable and high-frequency words (often-heard) by sight. Use self-correcting strategies when reading simple sentences. Read their own name.
