Band Chromatic Scale Assessment

This rubric is designed for evaluating a middle school art project.

Research a composer from the assigned time period. Submit a full 2 page, double spaced paper that uses Times New Roman 12 point font. Include a works cited page with at least 3 resources used researching the paper. Paper will be graded on quality of research to support the topic, effective use of information gained through research (Content), credibility of sources (quality of research), grammar and mechanics, and works cited.

The student will research the history of selected Christmas songs from a list. Paragraph form (8 complete sentences) that includes the composer, date, location, message and one interesting fact

The student will complete a summary of the video tutorial. It should include 2 paragraphs with 5-8 sentences each. Student will demonstrate knowledge of the digital feature and provide ways to include that feature in their digital composition.

The students will reflect on eight major life events and choose a song to represent each event. Students will also write a reflective letter about this project.

7th and 8th grade students will use technology as well as their knowledge about music theory to create a 16 measure song to present to class.

The student will create a display. The project will contain relevant information directly related to their assigned Composer. Students will collect pictures and other artifacts for their project to create a creative and colorful artifact. The artifact will be designed on a single sheet of paper or poster board no larger than 22"x 28".

Rubric for Honor's group performance of handbell literature for term evaluation

The student will research the history of hand bells and create a 2 page essay. The essay will contain history, cost of 2, 3 & 5 octave sets, and describe at least three techniques for ringing.
