This rubric will be used to assess the blogs posts you will be creating and posting to our classroom blog.

Students will be learning the history of the parks, the criteria and how to become a national park and picking a park near us to get designation as a state park.

Taking the information sent to you from your National Park and further information from www.nps.gov, you are to advertise your park to the class as a 2-part presentation. You will need to talk about the 5 points in the instruction sheet. You will answer the above points using BOTH a poster and a Prezi display. The two media types should compliment each other and NOT be a repeat of all of the information above in both parts.

Write a fractured fairy tale or fable. Students will choose a fairy tale to rewrite using a different setting or a problem.

Research two different presidential candidates for the 2016 election. Your job is to research the 6 environmental platforms that we on isidewith.com and state, without biases, where they stand.

You will write a 500 word double spaced (+/- 75 words) article on the chosen presidential candidate. The article can be be an endorsement or opposition article, but it MUST address the platforms and policies the candidate plans on instituting and clearly show the perceived positive or negative effects. You will also create a colorful poster supporting the candidate. And give a short presentation about your candidate.

A brief explanation of a major tech advancement from one of the seven types of technology.

Students will create Retro National Parks postcards using Photoshop and InDesign.

Students are to build a detailed, working model of an idea discussed in Alternative Energy class. This model can represent any area of alternative energy. Students are to include all major components of this idea in their model design, neatly labeling each aspect of the model in order to clearly communicate this idea. Students are to utilize at least 3 different materials for this design. This model will be accompanied by an oral explanation to the class and write-up for teacher.

Students must write an email to a vacation destination requesting information about the location for tourists.

Ecosystems are composed of a variety of biotic and abiotic factors that function in an interrelated fashion. In this assignment you will demonstrate your understanding of the exchange of energy and matter within the biosphere by designing and building your own ecosystem. Essentially you are creating a biosphere in a bottle that will be closed off and self sustaining. This project is to be done in groups of 2.

Assess students' final project in the inquiry-based unit on Energy.

7th Grade Technology class will build individual boxes from 1x4 and 1x6 material and tools.

Create an illustrated timeline showing a minimum of 5 technology inventions beginning with the stone age up until the Industrial Age (1900's).

Bridge will be made out of popsicle sticks and glue. Sticks may not be cut .You may use up to 200 sticks. The bridge must span a distance of 14 inches (needs to be a little longer for testing ) and must hold a twenty pound weight for at least a full minute, while the bridge is at least one foot above the floor. In addition to meeting the weight bearing and structural requirements, the bridge will also be judged on its aesthetics, so be creative.
