Teach the Class
For this assignment, students in each group will “teach the class” in the assigned policy chapter from the Peter’s text. Each group will outline the key points of the chapter and policy assigned. Students may use power point, class handouts, discussion exercises, or other techniques to explain and discuss the material.

Research Project- Written Section
Assignment: Each student must select a topic either from the provided list or of their own choosing. Topics should be relevant to the material assigned for this course. The project should include: An introductory explanation, relevant discussion of contemporary political application, potential disadvantages or challenges, and a proposal for future research. Students should prepare 3 - 5 page typed summary. (Should be double spaced, 12pt Times New Roman font, and 1-inch margins.)

Objective: To gain experience in recognizing the role of theory in political science and to practice good writing skills by creating a coherent, concise essay. Assignment: Choose one of the policy analysis/ policy making theories we have studied in this class. Do some background reading on the topic. RESEARCH PAPER GUIDELINES The research paper is to be 4-6 pages, double-spaced and must cite a minimum of three academic sources using MLA format. Grades will be assigned using points based on: 1. Adherence to scientific methodology, 2. Communication of research findings, summary conclusions, and considerations for future research, and 3. Accuracy in spelling, grammar, and MLA format. RESEARCH PRESENTATION GUIDELINES Each student will be allotted five minutes to present and will be graded on clear verbal and visual communication of the research, methodology and findings.
