Students are to perform an experiment in a group/by themselves which can be conducted in class. Experiments must include a problem, research, step by step experiment instructions and a method to display data. Students state their conclusion explaining if the experiment supported. Students also discuss why they choose this experiment. All information must be typed and presented.

2 rubric 3D Model of a Cell       popup preview  
Students must create a 3-D cell model of ONE of the following cell types: plant cell or animal cell. They may instead do a detailed 3D model of an organelle/s if they wish to. Students must label all parts of the cell or organelle, and be prepared explain their model. The 3-D representation must include all of the major aspects of a cell, including but not limited to: nucleus, nucleolus, mitochondria, cell membrane/wall, SER, RER, golgi body, ribosomes, vacuoules, lysosomes, and cytoplasm.

Directions: Create a 3-D skin model that includes and labels all the five layers of epidermis, 2 layers of dermis, and hypodermis. Be sure to include all the special cells and structures found in each layer.

7 rubric BIOME Diorama Project       popup preview  
This is a project that integrates ecology and biology. Students write a short report (2-3 pages) about a biome of their choice and write a description about its locations/characteristics, as well as all the biotic and abiotic factors found in that biome. Reports are required to specifically discuss climate, location, plant life and animal life in the biome. Then the students must create a 3D model dioarama that reflects/illustrates the biome's features.
