This rubric will be used with individual students to score performance.

Names of the notes and rest used to read rhythm and the number of beats each one receives. Whole Note and Rest, Half Note and Rest, Quarter Note and Rest, 2-8th Note

MLR A2 Notation and Terminology: Students identify and read musical notation, symbols, and terminology. Students will demonstrate their understanding of the 4/4 time signature, quarter note, quarter rest, eighth notes (sets of 2), steady beat, barline, double barline, measure and repeat sign. Students will answer questions in regard to the vocabulary and demonstrate steady beat and rhythm using snare drum techniques.

Build a musical composition 8 measures long that uses the sample rhythms and harmonic structures provided.

Students will acquire recorder playing skills, as a component of the general music course.

Students in grade 3, in small group of 3s will sing Frere Jacques in a canon
