SWBAT: Demonstrate their knowledge of paragraph organization by writing an argumentative essay utilizing the writing process of planning, organizing, writing, evaluating and revising.

How Jigsaw works: Students read a section of a given reading independently writing down three key concepts and any vocabulary words. Second, students meet in same groups to discuss their key concepts, vocabulary terms, and their similarities and differences. As a group they pair down all of their key concepts to two or three group key concepts (that may look different from any one individuals key concepts). Lastly, students are put into mixed groups where there is one person from each section of the reading. Collectively they each take turns teaching the others on their section. Students from the other sections will take notes on the key concepts from the other sections.

Jigsaw Reading

Choice Writing Assignment Test for Chapter 14 Sections 1 and 2 The Native American Experience in the 19th Century. Choose two options out of eight to respond to writing prompt.

The project will be a choice assignment project in which the students will be given options to choose from to complete their project. There are four categories which each have 3-4 options within them called "mini-assignments." Categories A-D choices are in line with Blooms Taxonomy. The Categories progressively move upward towards 'synthesis.' The student will work on this project during class time and at home.

Students will know project expectations which would include completeness, accuracy, requirements, legibility and time management.

Use historical documents to compose a Two-Voice Poetry.

The students have to read a film review about the movie ‘’War of the Worlds’’ and then they have to write a film review (130-150 words) about their favorite movie for an online magazine including the same kind of information as the review they already read.

Students view film versions of Hamlet while identifying, analyzing, and interpreting the techniques used in the film to achieve the director's purpose.

This rubric shows how classwork will be evaluated.

Students will read the first page of several novels in order to recognize how authors use different points of view. Students are then given another page to read and understand the point of view. Then they are instructed to re-write the page in order to create a different point of view.

Evaluate each student's cooperative group skills and task performance and enter a rating for each group work responsibility. Circle the number that best fits their performance.
