Students will take their knowledge of our solar system and create a model of the planets. The planets should be relatively proportioned and clearly labeled in some way. Reason: how students view the solar system as well as showcase their creativity, use of color, and to get creative while learning. Each student will have to present their project to the class and come prepared to discuss how their planet model was created and be able to tell facts about the planet. Worth: 18 points.

Students will write and illustrate similies.

Self Collage: Create a collage using poster that represents who you are as a person and where you are from. This collage should consist of a wide variety of images that tell who you are, where you are from, and what is important to you. The collage should contain words that describe who you are. Words may be hand-written or glued. You will present this poster and display this. Collage is the first part of the comprehension phase of our current story: "Me and Uncle Romie."

Biography of a famous person. Biography should include important details of figures life and the contributions he/she makes to the world. The biography written on this person should include Personal information, qualities, and contributions. This biography needs to consist of 3-4 paragraphs.

Students need to have journal entries. You will put all journal entries in your portfolio folder with all questions and responses to the question. Requirements: Have a journal notebook Have journal entry questions and responses All stray papers must be stapled into journal notebook

Students are to model their ecosystem and include a food chain/web. This project counts for Science and ELA project grade.

Students will read a story, use a graphic organizer, and respond in their journals about the story.

Students work individually then groups to discuss different locations in the world. Students will understand it is not the same time everywhere in the world by involving time clocks and our country, The USA. Positioning the hands of the clock and telling time to the hour or to the half hour.

Arch or beam bridge to be made out of plastic straws, toothpicks, and tape. Width must be 25 cm. The bridge must support a toy car. The car can not fall off the bridge and the bridge must not collapse. The bridge must be able withstand a minimum weight of a small toy car without failing or sagging more than five cm.

Students will compose five original sentences using vocabulary words learned and context clues. Students should utilize context clues in all sentences and should refer back to examples given in class.
