After transferring your drawing using the grid, use two different mediums and color/shade your drawing. You will be graded on if you incorporate your own personal artistic style, use composition and design, craftsmanship, and effort.

The student will create a relief printmaking block using carved linoleum. The student will print an edition of 3 signed, numbered, and dated prints. Student will print sketchbook, folder, and another student's sketchbook.

Student is to draw a portrait. They may use a magazine image or a photo of someone they know. They will create a grid to enlarge the photo onto a 12" x 18" paper. Contour line should be used to create the outline and inner details of the image. Students will use their choice of "painting" media to complete their portrait.

Students will select a photograph with strong contrast between light and dark values/shades. They will photoedit the image on iPads to improve the photograph. Students will place thin tracing paper over the photo and stipple (apply tiny dots with marker or pencil) to create tones that will change over the areas of light, medium and dark tones and highlights. Students will photocopy finished stipple drawing (optional: add additional details for extra credit) and complete self-evaluation.

Students will create a watercolor landscape painting which contains a creek running towards the foreground with other natural elements present in the background. Students will create a foreground, middle ground, and background using watercolor techniques. This unit will help students examine the history of landscape paintings in light of current ecological concerns.
