Rubric for evaluating student posters and presentations.

Research the stages of Meiosis

The students will create a poster that compares the organelles of a plant and animal cell to the parts of a city. Using their poster the students will create an interactive diagram using the web tool, Thinglink.

The students will work on their own to put together a poster for display. The poster will contain relevant information directly related to the topic selected by the student. The poster will be designed on either poster board (full-sized poster board) or tri fold poster board. The student is required to present their poster to the class and teacher.

Fossils Project

At a family reunion, your cousin, Billy Joe Bob, goes on and on, saying the earth is only a few thousand years old & that humans and dinosaurs co-existed. Now Billy Joe hasn’t taken any science courses recently. Break it to him gently. Provide a history of the universe, radiometric dating evidence, explain how fossils are formed and what relative position of fossils indicates. Finally, explain with fossil evidence and fossil ages why dinosaurs & humans could’ve never co-existed.

Animal or Plant cell on one side of the cereal box and cell city on the other side. Key for each side on the smaller sides of the box. The three things a plant cell has that an animal cell does not written on the top of the box. The one thing that animal cells have that plant cells do not have written on the bottom. First and Last Name and class period written on the bottom of the box.
