Students will read the stories in order to recognize how authors use different points of view. Students are then given another activity to read and understand the point of view. Then they are instructed to identify, describe and write the point of view.

The student will draw a totem pole using at least 3 symbols that represent the student's family or the student. The presentation must be accompanied by a paragraph explaining the symbolism the totem pole depicts. The student will also choose one element from their totem pole to draw to scale on graph paper.

Students are to make a foldable main ideas on them about animal adaptations and locate supporting details for each main idea using their science text books.

Students are required to lead a class and ask comprehension questions during/after class readings. Student will lead class discussion, answer peer questions, and create a kahoot for final comprehension check

Historical Inquiry and Analysis

Students will understand that Native Americans were the first inhabitants in North America, will compare cultures of the Three Primary Native American Tribes of South Carolina. Identify vocabulary words and examine primary and secondary sources. Essential Question: How were the Native Americans an important part of our history? How are the Cherokee, Catawba, and Yemessee tribes the same? How are the three tribes different?
