Slave South Test--Essay Question
Slavery has been the theme of this unit. Discuss the development and impact of this institution from its beginnings in the New World through the time of the Civil War. Why did slavery develop as it did in the South? How did African-Americans resist their enslavement? In what ways were slaveholders attacked for their way of life and how did they react? What political tensions arose over the slavery issue? Be sure to use detailed examples to answer this questions.

Civil Rights Project
With this project you are going to think and explore what Civil Rights means to you. Use your imagination and come up with a picture or drawing showing how you feel, and what you think about the freedoms you have. You may use crayons, colored pencils, markers, pictures, shapes, and/or letters. While you may not cut out an entire picture and glue it to the card stock provided, you are welcome to do a collage of pictures and shapes you cut out and piece together. Use plenty of creativity; many of these will be displayed on the class bulletin board. This project is worth a test grade. Write two paragraphs on the back of your artwork answering the following: Please write in complete sentences using your best grammar and spelling. This project is worth a test grade, and will help your grade for this class.
