Las Noticias
Objective: To create a semi-professional newscast that includes topics that have been previously studied in conjunction with topics currently being studied in Spanish II. The topics include weather, sports, leisure activities, parties/celebrations, current events in the Spanish-speaking world, current events within the local Spanish community, clothing, fashion, food, and music. Students will work in small groups to create an assigned portion of the newscast. Students will then help arrange the individual presentations to create a final whole-class production. Students will be graded on an individual work, group work, and the outcome of the production as a whole class.

Students compose 30 sentences about themselves as a little boy/girl, now, and in the future. Included should be birthdate, physical characteristics, likes and dislikes, family/friends, hobbies, travel, interests, educational, career and life plans. (10 Past Tense, 10 Present Tense and 10 Immediate Future Tense). These sentences are to be typed in English and Spanish and submitted in the form of a poster or booklet. Illustrations, drawings or clipart should be shown relating to the sentences.

FAMILY TREE 2 Due el _____ de enero (Jan __)
ON HALF A POSTER BOARD CREATE A FICTIONAL FAMILY TREE. IT MUST INCLUDE 8-10 FAMILY MEMBERS. EACH FAMILY MEMBER SHOULD BE REPRESENTED BY A PICTURE AND SHOULD BE LABELED BY THEIR NAME AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO 1 KEY PERSON IN THE FAMILY. NEXT WRITE SENTENCES ABOUT EACH FAMILY MEMBER. Formal Commands to the Principal
The objective of this activity is to have students practice using Formal commands. Students will design a Powerpoint presentation consisting of 12 slides. Ten slides will have a Formal command in Spanish and English. Students will add a graphic or photo to each slide. Finally, Students will present their Powerpoint orally in class. (I usually invite an administrator to come and sit in during the presentations.)
