Students will create, draw, or write about an invention that would help the world. The invention may need technologies or tools that are not invented as of yet, as da Vinci sketched inventions that could not yet be made during his lifetime, but they must be realistic and not involve "magic" as its way of being operated. Students should label any simple machines (such as wedges, screws, inclined planes, wheel & axle) that are within the invention.

Students will write about how they can positively affect their community in order to relate to the European Renaissance, and how individuals made a profound change in the world in which they lived in.

Students will examine the similarities and differences between the three major monotheistic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) to build tolerance of other religions. This will done through studying the history of each religions' leaders, customs, and events.

Students create a mosaic of the first letter of their name using construction paper. NYSAA 21107 - Create pictures, symbols, objects, etc. to communicate information. NYSAA 11204 - Relate facts and/or ideas to chosen topics.

Students label coins on a graphic organizer as an emerging skill to label their value. AGLI 22105 - Measurement - recognize coins and their value.

Students will identify the rules of a field trip on a graphic organizer. Grade 7 Listening AGLI 31104 - Listen to and identify how details relate to a main idea. ABLLS G38 - Labeling Pronouns

After reading "From Egg to Robin" by Betsey Chessen, students label the life cycle of a robin. Learning Standard Science Standard 4: Living Environment: Key Idea 5: Organisms maintain a dynamic equilibrium that sustains life. Science AGLI 23110 - Recognize behaviors of an organism ABLLS H48 - Tell about experience or story.

Students sequence events of a story through either writing it on sentence strips and ordering them, or with pictures. Students use book as reference tool. Learning Standard ELA Grade 8 Writing: students will read, write, listen, and speak for information and understanding. Grade 8 Writing AGLI 21304 - Use an outline or other organizer to share information. ABLLS H48 - Tell about experience or story.

Students read and write the time of an analog clock. Learning Standard Strand: Measurement: Band: Units/Estimation Measurement AGLI 22205 - Students will tell time using an analog clock.

Students describe characters from "Little Red Riding Hood." Learning Standard ELA Grade 7 Reading: students will read, write, listen, and speak literary response and expression. Grade 7 Reading AGLI 12203 - Recognize changes in characters and/or their personalities refelcted in their actions and/or words. ABLLS H40 - Describe Items

Students label food groups using a graphic organizer. Intermediate Health Standard 1: Personal Health and Fitness, Health Education; Grade 8 Science Standard 4:Living Environment, Key Idea 5 AGLI (23307) – identify that organisms need food to live, maintain health, and a balanced condition

Students create graphic organizers about danger signs or apply information by labeling foods to eat or to not eat. NYS Learning Standards for Health, Standard 2: A Safe and Healthy Environment; Grade 8 Science AGLI 12103 – reognize a safety hazard associated with a scientific investigation; Grade 8 Science AGLI 23107 - recognize one or more components for an organism to maintain health.

Students discriminate pronouns and label them. Grade 7 Listening AGLI 31101 - Listen to and follow one-step directions. ABLLS G38 - Labeling Pronouns

Students choose between good and bad choices to make after reading "Acting Silly" by Ms. Winder. This will be related to functional mysteries. They also apply this knowledge to solve problems presented to them, whether from the book or in other situations. Grade 8 Reading AGLI 13211 - compare other's information with personal experience to determine accuracy. Grade 7 Writing AGLI 23208 - make predictions about possible outcomes.

Students count by 5s in multiple ways. AGLI 43203 - ALGEBRA: WHEN GIVEN A REPEATING PATTERN, STUDENTS DUPLICATE THE PATTERN.

Students use the computer to develop either typing of mouse manipulation skills. Brigance (Yellow) and (Green) Readiness Skills New York State Technology Standard 2 – Information Systems Students will access, generate, process, and transfer information using appropriate technologies.

Students list the steps to problem solve using Ms. Winder's "What Should You Do?: A Problem Solver's Guide." This will be related to functional mysteries. Students use their senses to investigate the aspects of flubber after making the product. Science Physical Environment AGLI 33317 - Describe an investigation involving a physical change.

Students use graphic organizer or writes about why one should brush their teeth and how it relates to health. Science 23107 - recognize one or more components for an organism to maintain health. ABLLS H33 - Answer "why" questions.
