5-Paragraph Essay Rubric
Students will demonstrate their knowledge of paragraph organization by writing a 5-paragraph essay utilizing the writing process of planning, organizing, writing, evaluating and revising. *Note: The first 5 criteria of this rubric have been duplicated from the the Steck-Vaughn GED Essay. This is an essay on their characters that they are drawing, illustrating, and giving an oral presentation in a later class.

Favorite Author Presentation
Students will choose their favorite author and research him or her. They will then put together a oral presentation, including a visual aid. The visual aid can be a display board, collage or poster. In the presentation they must include a short bibliography, a list of the author's work and any awards they have recieved. The student must also include why that author is their favorite.
