ENGLISH 112 Independent Reading Project

Criteria for completing current event articles in World Issues-Current Events.

Students will know assignment expectations which would include completeness, accuracy, legibility, directions, effort and time management.

Evaluate the presentations on your Watch List using the following criteria. Add notes to comment on things you felt were noteworthy, done well, or other.

Create a scale model of some Roman architecture, art, or another piece of material culture. This is a broad group to choose from. It can be: 1) a model of an aqueduct, temple, or other engineering marvel; 2) a statue, vase, mosaic, or other 3-D art of significance; or, 3) clothing, jewelry, coin, military gear, or other object of material culture. A short written component and photo/video log will accompany the product. This must be portable in the classroom (no huge creations).

CHALLENGE: To create the first mobile app for an Android device. PROJECT OBJECTIVE(S): students will obtain an introductory experience with React Native, Thunkable, or UiZard to design and create an App that addresses a problem statement.

Students will create a puppet/doll/sculpture that represents The Phantom of the Opera.

Students will create a design (realistic, abstract, or non-objective) and create a mosaic using the direct method of mosaic application. They may choose to use the masonite panel provided or bring in another object of comparible size to mosaic.

CHALLENGE: To build an app in a limited amount of time. PROJECT OBJECTIVE(S): students will obtain an introductory experience with App Inventor and to practice using arguments and variables in mobile app design.
