Ms. Lea Mark

The Visual Arts Course of Study at Danbury uses the Ohio's fine arts academic content standards for the basis for what all students should know and be able to do in the arts.
Danbury's philosophy beleives that arts education is essential to the basic education of all children. The visual arts offers opportunities for students to increase their understanding of themselves and their world.
Visual art education encourages inquiry, discovery, and wonder. Quality art education engages students in processes which include: problem solving, flexibility, cooperation, tolerance, discovery learning, personal inquiry, and higher order thinkingabilities, such as perceiving, analyzing, comparing, assessing, synthesizing, and hypothesizing.
All students grades K-6 engage in each of the following areas of art; drawing, painting, forming, printing, construction, and art appreciation throughout the school year.

Career Connections 7-8
Mr. Bryan Dudash
profile
email: dudashb@danbury.k12.oh.us
I utilize a lot of collaborative learning in my classrooms. I feel it is important for my students to learn from each instead of from me lecturing at them. I am more like a facilitator in my classroom and try and guide my students to the intended lessons. I don’t want them to just the important dates and names, but more importantly the causes and the effects.
I have my students participate in Schoology. It is an online classroom /discussion site that enables me to allow the students to access the assignments at home and turn them in at any hour of the day or night.

Health
In health, we will strive to get the student to stay informed of the trends in both medicines and medical procedures. We will encourage the students to better understand the social, physical and mental advantages of staying in shape, choosing a beneficial diet and abstaining from both risky behaviors and harmful substances that they are presented with. We will encourage the students to better understand the different systems that make up their bodies, and how to protect them and strengthen them in order to enjoy both a good quality of life and longevity of life.
Physical Education
In physical education we will get the students to understand the need for physical exercise. We will encourage the students to get a minimum of 30 minutes per day of combination of physical exercise and involovment in competitive games. We will help the students to understand that physical activities and exercise are needed life long, and can lead to both better quality of live and longevity of life.

In my classes, we will explore many different types of technology as well as a variety of applications that are available to the students. An emphasis will be made on safe computing and creating a positive digital footprint.
Parents are welcomed and encouraged to request a parent login to Edmodo (grades 5-6) or Schoology (grades 7-8) to have access to our classroom social network where assignments are posted and turned in, announcements or updates can be posted, students can message their teachers, files can be transferred from school to home and back, and at times you may be able to view some of the students' work. Please contact me at the above email address if you would like an access code.
If there is no computer access at home, I provide open lab time Monday nights from 2:35- 3:35 and during breakfast at the student's request.
