SOC 101

Sociology 101 is an introduction into the social sciences. We learn the fundamentals of society and human behavior based on the society they live in. Grades are based on five tests and five essays. This class requires a lot of critical thinking, especially on the essays. Tests are based not only on notes, but on reading out of the text book.

For this essay, we had to define what sociology is and how it is percieved from the three sociological perspectives. Click Here to view my Sociology essay.

Our essays are graded on either a 0, 3, 7, or 10. I have yet to recieve and essay with a "10" on it, but I do have an essay that I am most proud of. This was our first essay of the semester in sociology class. We had to define what sociology is and how it is percieved from the three sociological perspectives (structural functionalist, social conflict, symbolic interactionism). I got a 7 on it but I was still proud of my ideas in my essay. I would make a few changes to it though. Going to Mrs. Donovan (my professor) for a review would have benefitted my grade and taking advantage of the writing center would have been very beneficial to me. Also, having a better understanding of the three sociological perspectives would have benefitted me even more.
