This course is designed to give students a general understanding of sociological theories. This course teaches how societies interact with one another and how people within a society interact. This course also shows how, without even knowing it, most people experience some form of sociology everyday of their lives.
I choose my essay titled "The Truth." I picked this essay because it shows how sociology applies to discrimination and prejudice. I used the graph titled "Prejudice and Discrimination:The Vicious Circle" from the book Sociology by John J. Macionis.3 It shows the viscious cycle of discrimination. I applied this graph to two groups of people commonly discriminated in the South, African Americans and Hispanic Americans. Once you finish reading this essay, you should gain a general understanding of how sociologist look at discrimination.
