SOC 101

Sociology 101 is a course that teaches about general trends in the world, how they have changed, and why.  It is, however, more than just a class where you learn things.  It also helps you perceive the world as more than what it is at face value.  It is a class that promotes thinking and encourages you to notice the little things that generally go unnoticed around you.  It’s a great class to add to any repertoire for any major, as it helps to understand the complexity that is the human mind.

Here is a Sociology essay that I wrote about the questions sociologists would ask about marriage.

All in all, I feel that this was a solid essay.  There isn’t much wrong with it, in my opinion, though I am slightly biased.  I wrote this towards the beginning of the semester, when I was still 100% focused on my work.  For this essay, we were given three questions sociologists would ask about marriage, and we were supposed to identify which sociological theory best matches each question and write about why.  It was a great way to get in touch with the inner sociologist to see how there are many ways to approach a subject.  I am extremely proud of this work, and I only wish my following papers were as great as this one.
